Tuna Crudo

Tuna Crudo recipe ⬇️

🐟 Since the fish will be consumed raw it is important to purchase the highest-quality tuna, preferably a thick piece from the loin. The tuna needs to spend 10 minutes in the freezer before it is sliced.

1 thick piece of tuna (preferably from the loin)

1 tbs olive oil

1 tbs freshly squeezed orange juice or lemon juice

1 tsp freshly squeezed lime juice

1 tsp fish sauce

1 tsp thinly sliced shallot

1 tsp thinly sliced jalapenos (optional)

1 tbs capers, drained well

1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes

3-4 leaves basil, thinly sliced

Avocado, sliced for garnish

Coarse kosher or sea salt

Place the tuna in the freezer for 10 minutes; this helps it firm up, which makes it easier to slice.

In a bowl mix together the shallots, red hot chili pepper, jalapeno, capers, basil, olive oil, fish sauce and citrus juices. Set aside.

Thinly slice the tuna. As you work, gently press each slice onto the cutting surface with your fingers, to flatten it, then transfer to a serving platter, arranging the slices in 1 layer.

Spoon the vinaigrette over the fish and sprinkle with salt. Garnish with avocado and serve immediately.
